About the Project
AetherEdge is a short film and proof of concept that I worked on after graduating. It led me to my first job doing animation and building animatics, before my storyboarding career took off. The goal of the proof was to combine the intense action and well-developed story of shows such as The Clone Wars and Samurai Jack, the gravity defying excitement of the Final Fantasy universe, and the beautiful render quality pioneered by companies such as Pixar.
Synopsis
AetherEdge is a 3D animated short that takes place in a dystopic future, and follows a wandering warrior named Floyd as he encounters other alien races and is often forced to do battle with their constructs.
After humanity was deemed to wield Aether, a bio-enhancing element, alien races both friendly and hostile traveled to Earth to take the Aether for themselves. Floyd along with his allies fight against the oppressive alien forces and discover the true mystery behind his past and the origins of Aether itself.
